Orange English Scones

Women Seeking Women Chelsea

These Orange English Scones are a tasty treat with a twist of citrus. Theyre great for breakfast or tea in the afternoon.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter cold and cubed
  • 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons orange zest
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup dried currants or raisins optional
  • Powdered sugar for dusting, optional

Instructions:

Start by heating the oven to 400F 200C

Put the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl and mix them together

Mix the cold butter cubes into the dry ingredients

You can use your fingers or a pastry cutter to cut the butter into the dough until it looks like big crumbs

Mix the fresh orange juice, milk, egg, orange zest, and vanilla extract in a different bowl using a whisk

Add the wet ingredients to the dry ones and mix them together just until they are combined

You can add dried currants or raisins if you want to

Put the dough on a floured surface and knead it a few times until it starts to stick together

The dough should be rolled out to about 1 inch thick

To make scones, you can use a glass or a round cookie cutter

Leave some space between each scone on a baking sheet that has been lined with parchment paper

After the oven is hot, bake the scones for 12 to 15 minutes, or until they are golden brown and fully cooked

Let the scones cool down a bit before you serve them

If you want, you can sprinkle powdered sugar on top before serving

Enjoy your Orange English Scones that you made yourself
